Librarian holds a cardboard book workshop for children in the Amazon Rainforest, Acre, Brazil

To our friends who read in English: We have published an article telling about the initiative of librarian Ana Paula Cravo Obeltz who ran a cartonera workshop (cardboard books) for about 60 children and teenagers living in an isolated community in the Amazon Rainforest in the state of Acre (Brazil) accessible only by boat.

The boat trip takes 7-10 hours. Children have learned to make books with cardboard covers addressing very important environmental issues that Brazil is facing, such as fires in the Amazon rainforest.

The article is in Portuguese, but the photos tell a lot. We recommend using Google Translate for anyone who wants to get an idea of what the cardboard book workshop was like. This article is part of the "Cartoneras Populares Project" of our indie publisher Magnolia Cartonera
